Changes to Oceanic Clearances
From 0001z o
From 0001z on14-DEC-2024 changes to all Oceanic sectors will occur that will change the process for pilots flying on VATSIM.
The procedures in flying with the NAT Region (North Atlantic) will change were there will oceanic clearances request or issued prior to entry. However the process will change, were pilots will now submit an RCL (Request for clearance) via the NATTRAK website and still file there request routing along with flight level and speed.
Oceanic controllers will then check the RCL for any errors or conflicting traffic and if all is ok, then no contact is made with the pilot, prior to entry and the pilot should fly the route FL and speed requested.
Effective 0001Z 04/12/24
Aircraft entering Shanwick & Gander OCAs after 0001Z tonight no longer require an oceanic clearance prior to entry.
⚠️ Pilots must still submit an RCL (Oceanic Clearance Request) via nattrak.vatsim.net. 30-90 minutes before the oceanic entry point.
Expect the response “RCL RECEIVED CONTINUE TO MONITOR NATTRAK UNTIL ENTERING OCA ”.
Should any amendments are required to be made by the oceanic controller then a new message will be sent to you via the NATTRAK website.
Notes:
- Do not change Flight Level, speed or route without an ATC clearance. Pilots must request clearance for step climbs in flight plans.
- Make voice contact with Shanwick or Gander Radio over the oceanic entry point for a SELCAL check and onward frequency assignment.
- If in doubt, confirm your clearance with ATC.
